Introduction

I came across a research paper "The quantitative comparison between the neuronal network and the cosmic web" which sparks an interesting analogy of two complex structures human brain and the universe.

The human brain is one of the most complex structures with approximately 69 billion neurons connected with other neurons using dendrites with over 100 trillion connections forming a neural network of the brain on the other hand universe contains approximately 100 billion galaxies formed into galactic clusters and these clusters form into super-galactic clusters. Our galaxy Milkyway belongs to the galactic cluster known as the Local group which consists of approximately 30 galaxies bounded by gravity. The local group galactic cluster is part of the Virgo Supercluster which is estimated to have over 50 galactic clusters.

The Universe Organizes in a Galactic Neuromorphic Network.

It is estimated that 77%-78% of the brain's mass is composed of water while 73% of the universe's mass comes from dark energy acting as a passive material in both systems.

In the human brain, the neuron receives the signal from various sensory organs through dendrites. The neuron processes the input signal and sends the electric pulse through the axon which can split into thousands of branches that are connected using synapses to other neurons. Learning happens as the synapse's effectiveness changes, influencing how one neuron influences another.

Artificial Neurons

An artificial neuron also known as a perceptron is a mathematical function that takes the input and sends the output to other Artificial neurons. These units connect with several other artificial neurons and form an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). In an Artificial neural network, the nodes act as artificial neurons and connections are represented by synaptic weights. when the input changes the synaptic weights change just like how biological neurons act when receiving signals from different sensory organs.

All neurons in the brain may not process every piece of information. some neurons may get activated for visual information and others for audio signals etc. The same applies to the Artificial Neural network.

In conclusion, Cosmos, the Human brain and Artificial Neural Networks have abstract relations in terms of how they form into network structures. Artificial Intelligence is evolving which someday may depict a human brain or cosmic web.
